Dr. Valdamar Hill, Representative, NAAAHR U.S. Virgin Islands

Dr. Hill was born on the island of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands and completed his secondary education in the public education system. He later received a Bachelor of Arts degree in languages and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Inter American University. He earned his Ph.D. in organization and management with a specialization in leadership from Capella University. Dr. Hill is a retired tenured business professor from the University of the Virgin Islands where he taught both undergraduate and graduate courses for over 20 years. He served on the panels of the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service, the American Arbitration Association, and the Virgin Islands Public Employees Relations Board as a labor arbitrator. He is certified as a mediator by the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. District Court of the Virgin Islands, the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands and the Virgin Islands Public Employees Relations Board. Dr. Hill is also certified as a Conflict Manager by the Center for Conflict Dynamics at Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, FL., and is a member of the Institute of Management Consultants USA.

Dr. Hill has served on numerous government boards and commissions to include the Public Service Commission, the Coastal Zone Management Committee, and the Virgin Islands Tariff Commission. His community involvement includes the St. Thomas Lions Club, past President; St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce, past President; Toastmasters, St. Thomas Chapter, founder and past President; St. Croix Foundation for Community Development, Board Member and Vice Chairman; UVI Workforce Development Advisory Board, past Chairman; The HR Association of St. Croix, founder and past President; the Virgin Islands Mediation Services, Vice President; and was the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Hill is President and CEO of The Hill Group, a leadership development and training consulting company. He has presented numerous seminars and workshops on leadership development and management, and supervisory and employee training. He is also the author of Self-Help for Employees: Achieving Success in the Organization Jungle, and Leadership That Works: A Resource Guide For First Time Leaders.

He was recognized as an outstanding Black Achiever in the Virgin Islands in 1986 by the Department of Conservation & Cultural Affairs, and has received many more commendations over the years.

Dr. Hill is a former Chief Labor Negotiator for the Government of the Virgin Islands.
